In a thrilling night of football at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 3–1 win over Mexican side Pachuca, despite playing with ten men for most of the match. The game was held at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, USA.
A Shocking Start… Early Red Card
Real Madrid entered the match full of confidence but suffered an early blow when young defender RaĂºl Asencio was sent off in the 7th minute for a last-man foul outside the box. The red card forced Madrid to play with ten men for the remaining 83 minutes.
Bellingham and GĂ¼ler Step Up
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Los Blancos remained composed and took the lead through Jude Bellingham in the 35th minute, following a brilliant solo run and precise finish. Just before halftime, Turkish starlet Arda GĂ¼ler doubled the lead with a well-executed team move, sending Madrid into the break with a comfortable 2–0 advantage.
Second Half: Courtois Shines
Pachuca intensified the pressure in the second half, hoping to capitalize on their advantage. However, Thibaut Courtois delivered a masterclass in goalkeeping, making several crucial saves — including a spectacular stop in the 58th minute — to keep the lead intact.
In the 70th minute, Fede Valverde sealed the win with a third goal, assisted by Brahim DĂaz. Although ElĂas Montiel pulled one back for Pachuca in the 80th minute, it was too little, too late.
Group Standings
With this victory, Real Madrid moved to the top of the group with 4 points, while Pachuca were eliminated from the tournament after suffering two consecutive defeats.
What’s Next for Real Madrid?
Los Blancos will face RB Salzburg in their final group match. A draw will be enough to secure a place in the tournament’s semi-finals.
